omfg music discovery
1. I’ve watched the “Ras Trent” digital short dozens of times and been like “So true!!!” But I’ve never understood why, along with Red Stripe, rollerskates, and a DVD of Cool Runnings, “Murder She Wrote” was in there. Is the show really big in Jamaica? I don’t know, it’s weird…
And then Nathaniel James posted the track and I remembered the fucking song! That’s like a year’s worth of uncertainty, finally solved. Such a relief.
2. The Kronos Quartet were about to play a Terry Riley piece on Soundcheck, and John Schaefer mentions that The Who were so inspired by Riley, they wrote and named a song after him. OH! Headslap, “Baba O’Riley!” That makes so much sense.
